Cork

Cork

Cork is one of those materials that feels honest. Warm to the touch, naturally stable, and built for repeated use without losing its character. For our cork stability blocks, we work with a family owned business in the mountainy parts of Portugal, in a small place where cork is not a trend, it is craft and routine.

Cork starts with the cork oak. The tree is not cut down. Instead, the bark is carefully harvested and the tree keeps living and regenerating new bark over time. It is a slow material by nature. A cork oak needs years to mature before it can be harvested properly, and after each harvest the tree needs many more years to rebuild a new layer of bark before the next one. That long cycle is part of why cork has the mix of lightness and strength that makes it so useful.

For our blocks, the cork is made from granulate. That means cork is processed into small, clean granules, graded for consistency, and then pressed into new forms. In simple terms, it is cork that is transformed and upcycled into a new high quality product, with predictable density and performance. This is what makes a block feel steady under pressure, instead of soft, crumbly, or uneven.

Cork works especially well for stability blocks because it does exactly what a block should do. It stays firm without feeling harsh. It holds its shape even when you put full bodyweight into it. It has a natural grip that helps you feel secure in poses, and it tends to feel even more confident when there is a little moisture on the hands. Over time, it also ages well. Instead of feeling worn out fast, it develops a subtle patina that looks like use, not damage.

That is why we use Portuguese cork granulate for our stability blocks. It is not about adding “eco” words to a product. It is about choosing a material with a real process behind it, and performance you can feel every time you train.
